Badland (Malpais) - Hogeye Bill

By Malpais, adapted by Hogeye Bill.

My only memories of you at all
are the images of bad times
And the voices I recall
remind me of your gypsy eyes.

Drinking, in the barroom of the damned
lost in a night that calls you to my side
and on the dark and melancholy sand
I return to the desolation of low tide.

For profane pleasure of your body,
I sell my soul in mortal sin.
A game desire started wrongly
Can only end as it began.

In the badland that is paradise
where the ocean like a bonfire lights,
and a guy can go to forget the lies
the wind your calm and my respite.

The path is short and is eternal
from salty mist to mountainside
The wind has made you what you are, girl,
the truth and lies wash with the tides.

Back in your badland where I don't exist,
where I'm not waiting at your door,
is it my fault or simply destiny if
I don't come back for more.

If only the love that I loved and I lost, in the wind
was just the song of surf and ocean's sigh.
I'd forget the crimson - that sun's dying end
back in your badland, the burning sky.
