Benongrad OverviewThe Benongrad Defense gets its name from the Benoni Defense and the Leningrad variation of the Dutch Defense. Indeed, most of the opening and middlegame themes derive from these parents. From the Benoni black inherits the proud dark-squared Bishop, the queenside b7-b5 advance and general q-side piece development, and play against white's pawn at d5. From the Leningrad Dutch he gets the inhibition of e2-e4, the dark bishop again, kingside space for a possible later attack, and chances of playing e7-e5 as opportunity arises. The latest update includes a revision and lengthening of the columns for the main line "A". Also, some illustrative games have been added and linked to the columns. So far, this new defense looks pretty darn playable! Perhaps an astute reader will find a refutation. Mail me your analysis, games or comments. |
